Brief service is provided within a harm reduction framework. Individuals completing this program remain eligible for additional addictions support including longer-term individual counselling and group therapy.

Brief services may be appropriate for the following individuals:
– mandated by courts or legal system, employers, Children’s Aid Society (CAS), or other organizations
– individuals seeking aftercare services
– family and friends
– specific goal oriented addiction support

Community addiction treatment is available to individuals who are concerned about their own or someone else’s substance use.

Addiction services are client-centred, acknowledging that people have the right to make their own choices while being treated.

The focus of the counselling sessions may include exploring family history, history of substance use, triggers, coping skills, strategies and other topics identified by the client. A specific treatment plan will be developed with the counsellor.

The Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) provides one-on-one counselling support to individuals who are concerned about their use of opioid drug. This includes individuals who are prescribed Methadone or Suboxone. OTP also offers counselling support to individuals who are pregnant or parenting children under the age of 6 years old and struggling with substance use of any kind. OTP offers individual counselling, referrals to other services and harm reduction supplies. OTP serves individuals in Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Wasaga Beach, Midland, and surrounding areas.

community addiction treatment available to individuals ages 12 up to and including 24 living in Simcoe County using a harm reduction, client-centred approach, support is offered regarding moderation, abstinence, alternative coping, family dynamics, peer interactions, and connecting to community resources.

The focus of counselling sessions may include exploring family history, history of substance use, triggers, coping skills, strategies and other topics identified by the client. Our approaches are rooted in evidence-based practices. Counsellors may use approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and others.

Goals are defined by you and may include abstinence, moderation, safer use or other harm reduction goals.

The Umbrellas program provides a community-based counselling and support for women who are pregnant, or mothers of children 6 years of age and under who are concerned about their own, or someone else’s substance use. We recognize that women may use drugs or alcohol to cope with difficult life situations. Services are based on harm reduction principles and other best practice research. Services include individual and group counselling and fast-track admission to designated residential treatment facilities.
